Ever wanted a simple method to accquire a stone-like material that didn't involve carving out every mountain and rock on your map? Well look no further!
Adobe Abode adds the ability for your pawns to research, craft, and bake adobe bricks; one of the oldest building materials used by humanity that is still used across the world today.
How does it work?
In order to begin the process, you will first need to research adobe mixing, a neolithic technology. Doing so will unlock the adobe mixing table and adobe baking frame buildings. Like tree sowing, tribal colonies begin the game with it already unlocked.
At the mixing table, your pawns will be able to craft adobe mix, from hay. This mix mix then needs to be delivered to a baking frame where it will cure for the next few days, completely hands free (courtesy of VEF Item Processor, soon to be SYR). Once the days have passed, a pawn will need to collect the finished bricks from the tray before the process can begin again.
Be aware though: rain will quickly cause the bricks still baking in the frame to be ruined, wasting all the materials within.
What is it good at?
Compared to other stone-like materials, adobe is neither best nor the worst. It's greatest strengths are its renewability and speed to build with, being ~40% than sandstone. However, it is not the strongest, beating only marble in its maximum hit-points factor. As well, it is somewhat unsightly and ill-suited for art and decorations. It is at its best when simply used for walls, floors, shelves, etc.
Final Thoughts
This mod is my first take at implementing a new material, so please let me know what you think! I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback on how it can be improved. I hope this mod serves you and your colonies well, should you use it!
