Mod «Alpha Animals» for Rimworld (v1.0 - 1.3)

Alpha Animals

Adds 100+ new, vanilla-friendly creatures to the diverse biomes of your Rimworlds. The philosophy of this mod is that every new creatures tries to bring some new mechanic into the game, whether it be walking tanks, living resource farm, indestructible plant monsters, night time stalkers, or plain speedy giant spiders. Some of the mechanics are simple, others much more complex.

These animals will spawn in certain biomes, some others will only be available via traders. You'll have to explore to find them all! The Alpha Biomes is a companion mod that adds several new alien biomes to house these weird creatures.

Bear in mind that spawn probabilities have been calculated with no other animal mods installed. If you have, for example, Vanilla Animals Expanded, less animals from this mod will appear, obviously.

The mod will also add new insects in a new faction, the Black Hive. Raids from that faction can be disabled via Mod Options.


  • Fix: The Alpha Biomes patch was not loading correctly

Version 07.09.22 for Rimworld (v1.0 - 1.3)

  • Added: Compatibility with Vanilla Psycasts Expanded, adds four new psy paths, all with Alpha Animals themed psycasts, for a total of 35 new psycasts:
  • Herald of the Black Hive: adds 8 abilities, related to the Black Hive. Most of them are summoning abilities
  • Oculist: adds all sorts of new ocular abilities (7 psycasts). If Ideology is found, this path requires the colonist to have the Biological Corruptors meme. The whole psycast path is a LOT more useful if you have both Ideology and Alpha Biomes
  • Ravager: adds 11 melee psycasts, that can only be used if the caster has a melee weapon equipped. This an adaptation of the Melee Psycasts mod by Martin Harris, used with permission
  • Xeno-seer: adds 9 animal based abilities that can be applied to colonists and other animals. For example, you can make a colonist electrified like Tetraslugs, feed on sunlight like needleposts or regenerate like a raptor shrimp, plus a few ranged abilities such as spitting acid or SHOOTING A GIANT LASSSSEEEEERRRRR.
  • Added: Alpha Biomes rock types will be useable to make the ocular floor
  • Tweak: the mech sappers incident will try to scale to colony wealth, from 1 mechs to 10 mechs (+demolisher)
  • Fix: Mammoth Worm lable had uppercase
  • Fix: summoning psycasts all have a range of 20 tiles now (from 999)
  • Fix: Ocular eruption psycast has a 15 goodwill impact as it is a hostile action
  • Fix: Ravager psycasts can't target buildings. Skewer psycasts can't target mechs either as they lack a torso
  • Fix: Black Hive insectoids won't emerge from cocoons with old age scars
