Prepare to encounter a new and terrifying menace, The Eye of Terror, a challenging and dynamic mid and end game Crisis. Watch as the experiments or decadence of the Fallen Empires bring forth a progressively more challenging threat. Interwoven with the Shroud and psionic features from the Utopia DLC, the mod aims to change the dynamic of your playthroughs with new stories, challenges and opportunities. This layered crisis will grow in difficulty and will shift depending on the luck or misfortune of your session. While there are encounters that may destroy you, unlike usual crises that spawn massive fleets, its goal is to start off as a constant menace to the galaxy and can only be sealed through great effort. A slow and insidious killer.

Although influenced by HP Lovecraft and the Warhammer Universe event of the same name, the storytelling is built to be immersive, to flow with the lore of Stellaris and aims to make the content feel integrated rather than intrusive.

Navigate your empire through 50+ events and multiple story chains leading up to and following the Shroud tear within your galaxy. Explore an ancient Precursor archaeological site to find new ways to combat this enigmatic threat or simply do your best to contain it with your own research chain. Find ways to work together with the Galactic Community with new resolutions, buildings, operations and technologies. Use this new danger as a tool to destroy your enemies or work tirelessly to seal the rifts and free the galaxy from the grip of terror.



Depending on your settings the crisis will have a chance to trigger after reaching midgame. A slow buildup of events will hint at the upcoming danger as rifts randomly begin to spawn in the galaxy. During this time, small but manageable enemies will emerge from these rifts to harass your reality. As several decades pass, the Eye of Terror itself will spawn and the chance of truly dangerous adversaries will begin. If you or the AI are able to seal the major rifts in the galaxy, you will then be able to close off the Eye of Terror. But beware, if it falls into the wrong hands, it can be re-opened.



Fight a variety of threats crawling out from the Shroud designed to corrupt and devour life in the Galaxy. Different adversaries such as cultists and entities have unique goals and behaviours. The enemy spawn system is built on randomized probability to ensure each playthrough unique and possibly more challenging. Every spawn is individual, meaning if entities or different cults run into each other, they will fight one another -leading to interesting stories or unexpected saviours.


The mod is completely independent and affects no vanilla files, it should be playable with all other mods. It has been tested with large mods (NSC, Giga, etc) and crisis manager mods with no issues (yet). It does not replace the existing crisis, so it is possible that it spawns alongside the others.

Events are broken if using mods that allow you to be new country types such as an ascended Empire.

Works with multiplayer.


Can be added at any point in your saved game, a special popup will appear at the end of the month for spawn chance. No issues that I know of (as of yet).

Difficulty Recommendations

If not experienced and play below Captain difficulty, suggested to keep default Strength and increase as needed in late game.
If playing on Captain mode and above, recommended for Strength to be set at 2x or above.
If playing with major mods like Giga, suggested to increase Strength 5X or above for a challenge.
