NOTE: This mod is NEW, please back up your saves.

New life stage: Toddler

  • 1- and 2-year-old pawns are no longer completely passive objects
  • toddlers cannot work, but can move around and interact with the world
  • toddlers gain capabilities over time – configurable
  • young toddlers are blocked by doors and can be confined to their cribs, but older toddlers are more mobile
  • toddlers can fill their play need on their own for a while, but still need regular adult interaction
  • older toddlers can feed themselves if baby food is left where they can reach it

Improved babies

  • no expectations
  • configurable rate of fall for Play need
  • babies are no longer made of antifreeze – configurable
  • make baby clothes to protect your babies and toddlers from the elements

Compatibility

  • safe to add to existing saves
  • not necessarily safe to remove from saves – may still work but will throw a lot of errors, experiment at your own risk
  • known issue with Facial Animation – toddlers render with vanilla faces while moving and animated faces while at rest
  • known issue with Dubs Bad Hygiene – toddlers cannot drink without assistance

  • 2 new settings options to control whether your pawns care about toddlers being out of their cribs during Sleep hours, and whether they care about toddlers sleeping on the floor
  • adults no longer put toddlers to bed for being tired, but only use the above (toggleable) criteria
  • fixed some cases that could lead to "putting to bed for unknown reason"/getting stuck in a loop trying to move babies/todders
  • pawns will no longer take babies to an unassigned bed if the baby has an assigned bed but it's at a bad temperature, bringing behaviour more in line with general rimworld behaviour around assigned beds

  • babies and toddlers can now be given shield belts, gas masks, and face masks
  • couldn't make up my mind how to resolve the tribal baby clothes question, so it's now in your hands. new setting has 5 options:
    • no baby clothes. hardcore mode. all babies must be naked.
    • baby clothes for medieval+ only, tribal babies must be naked.
    • babygro and basic hats can be made with tribal tech
    • baby tribalwear with tribal tech, all other baby clothes require medieval+
    • babies can wear anything children can, no separate baby clothes

  • - Fixed a rare bug where, when pawn rendering errors occurred (including those generated by unrelated mods), affected toddlers would vanish from the map when picked up. If you are experiencing this problem, turn Custom Rendering off and it should go away.

    Fixed:
    *rare error when attempting to play with a baby/toddler on the floor
    *adults and babies ending up miles from each other during floor play
    *edge case where toddlers could sometimes incorrectly do childcare jobs

  • - "No expectations" mood boost is now 20 by default rather than 25, so that babies and toddlers have a resting mood of 50
    - "No expectations" mood boost now adjustable in settings
    - Added compatibility with Nals Facial Animations (babies and toddlers still have tiny heads, this is just how FA chooses to draw babies, take it up with them)
    - Fixed: toddlers rendering at incorrect angles when the camera is zoomed out
    - Partial fix: certain genes rendering in incorrect places on toddler's heads (there are still issues when facing East/West, but I believe these are due to a vanilla bug)

  • - Fixed: baby shadecones rendering too small
    - Toddlers can no longer carry pawns
    - Toddlers who aren't old enough to dress themselves can't strip other pawns
    - Toddlers should be carried on caravans where possible (won't yet be carried _to_ caravans, sorry)
    - Toddlers generated as starting colonists or world pawns now gain age-appropriate debuffs
    - Raiders no longer attack toddlers, but may just pick them up and kidnap them
    --- may conflict slightly with other mods that alter kidnapping behaviour, please let me know
    --- not sure yet whether they'll phone home for rescue, etc, may need adjustment
