At the start of WW2,the British army only had 2 infantry anti tank weapons. Rifle grenades, which were proven not effective against armor, and the Boys AT rifle, which was also proven useless against modern tanks. The British army began working on a new AT weapon, one that used shaped charges and was more portable than the Boys. After it was approved, production began in 1942,and was first used during the invasion of Sicily.
During the war, the PIAT was used by all the British Commonwealth armies to great effect (the main problem being it's high recoil and the difficulties loading the spring, which is showcased in this mod with a random reload animation), by the Polish resistance, specially during the Warsaw Uprising, and even by the Red Army, as some of the launchers were sold to them.
