Colonel Melnik (rus: Святослав Константинович Мельников) - One of the plot characters in the Metro series of books and games. In the third part of the games (Metro: Exodus), he is an elderly man of sixty years old, with a visible beard, without legs and in an army pea coat with a blue Soviet-era beret.
Before the Nuclear War, he was an officer of the GRU and a member of the Vympel detachment; he did not succeed as a family man, had conflicts with his wife and often abuse his daughter Anna. After the Nuclear War, he led the Order of Sparta and its capital: Polis. He dreamed of finding the secret bunker D-6, but after founding a war for resources began between the main factions of the Moscow Metro. During the battles for the bunker, he lost both legs, and later acquired prosthetics. All the time he was underground, he collaborated with the “Invisible Observers”, who prevented metro residents from making contact with the outside world, and after a massacre in the Depot, where the main jammer control station was located, he escaped along with Artyom, Anna and part of the Order’s fighters on a steam locomotive . During the journey, he dies in Novosibirsk from acute radiation sickness and is buried on Lake Baikal.
