The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 (Russian: Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21, NATO code name: Fishbed) is a single-engine interceptor developed in the Soviet Union. The MiG-21 entered service in 1959. Outside the Soviet Union, it was first deployed to East Germany as part of the Soviet 16th Air Army.
