Anime History is the largest anime mod ever made for a strategy game!

Anime History is the largest anime mod ever made for a strategy game, with over 50.000 subscribers. This mod, also known by its former name, Anime no Sekai, not only fills every single portrait in Hearts of Iron IV with an anime counterpart, but also focus on compatibility, consistency, beauty, and to a significant extent, historical accuracy, appealing to a wide range of anime tastes.

If the mod appears outdated or does not appear at all, it is most likely a launcher problem, in that case, try this guide:
1. Put all your mods into a private collection. This will allow you to unsub and resub at once, saving a lot of time and making life easier.
2. Unsub all mods.
3. Delete what is written in /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Hearts of Iron IV/mods_registry.json. No need to delete the file itself and I suggest you don't since I tried it, followed by me verifying integrity of the files and not getting it back.
4. Delete all ugc files of the mods you are not working on. This is the culprit of the problem, in that they remain despite the mods themselves being wiped out in the uninstalling of the mods. Location of the ugcs are in /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Hearts of Iron IV/mod.
5. Reinstall all mods.

Military and political advisors for many countries, with more currently in development!
Immersive event and report pictures, all sticking true to the spirit and format of the game!

Waifu unit voice lines for countries which have them!
Anime troop models, the first ones ever made for a mainstream anime mod!

It is recommended to use DLCs with this mod for more portraits.

In the order of top priority to lowest priority:

Minister portraits for every country! (approximate completion: TBA)
Custom 3D model waifus replacing the soldiers (TBA)

Is this mod compatible for multiplayer?
This is a graphics only mod so it will work. Multiplayer compatibility also means Ironman compatibility.

Is this mod save game compatible?
See above (so yes it should work as well). You can load a save game and anime portraits will replace the normal ones.

What if HOI4 gets updated?
We'll get to work as soon as possible and roll out an update.

When ‘till the next update?
When it’s ready. We'll ensure that updates get released in a finished state.

Will there be animated portraits?
No. Though it is possible that we might experiment with such but in another mod.

Will the male names turn into female names?
No since a significant amount of portraits are art with no character name and changing names will also break Ironman compatibility.

Who is the girl/source for x? (plus loading screen source)
You can ask for the girl/source in our Discord server. The complaints committee will handle such matters.

I have discovered a bug/missing portrait/etc.!
