Scenario: Stalingrad

Welcome to my biggest mod to date, the Battle of Stalingrad. This mod is unique in that it puts you in charge either 6th Army or the Stalingrad Front in the Stalingrad area. The mod focuses solely on this region, with a map covering roughly the equivalent of the Stalingrad state in vanilla HOI4. Because the map is zoomed so much, a number of changes have been made to the game. These include:

  • Divisions have now been split into regiments and battalions
  • Rivers are technically classed as 'ocean' (as per Vanilla standards). Adjacencies are used as crossing-points. Guard them well!
  • Movement speed is increased to match the zoomed map. Watch for encirclements!
  • Aircraft range is increased. Your planes will now cover the entire map with range.
  • Supply lines have had their range increased (This is because I have placed historical railways into the game which somewhat limit supply).
  • Focuses are shortened, and the game is designed to last until (roughly) from July 1942 to spring 1943.
  • Game speed is greatly reduced, allowing you to manage the battle hour by hour (and practically minute by minute)

Other features of this mod include:

  • Historical railways as per maps of the Stalingrad area
  • Historical OOBs and leaders
  • Over a hundred events documenting the story of the Battle of Stalingrad
  • Focus trees with both historical and alt-historical elements
  • A selection of music for Germany and the USSR designed to enhance immersion.
  • A map designed with real-world sattelite imagery, as well as historical maps of the Stalingrad area.
  • References to popular culture depictions of Stalingrad (namely, COD:WAW, Enemy at the Gates and Stalingrad (1993) film.)

  • Update to game version 1.12.5

Version 08.01.22 for Hearts of Iron 4 (v1.11.4)

  • Missing units from Germany's starting OOB in the 8th September scenario now correctly spawn.
  • Reduced time it takes for equipment to be sent to your units.
  • Max organisation reduced by a factor of 10. Organisation regain has been increased as well by 10x. This is to match the smaller nature of the units in my mod.
  • HP and organisation has been increaased for artillery an AT. This includes SP variants.
  • Soviet starting equipment in 8th September start date has been reduced.
  • German starting equipment in 8th Sept start date also reduced (but by less than the Soviets).
  • Production efficiency gain now massively increased. You should now have a chance to get full efficiency over the course of the battle.
  • Many decisions have had their political power cost reduced.
  • Conflict level ideas have been reduced in PP cost.
  • replaced the duplicate of the 20th Romanian Infantry Division in the 8th Sept start date. It has been replaced with the 4th division instead.
  • Many Soviet focuses have had their completion time reduced.
  • Deploy decisions now spawn multiple units.
  • Reprogrammed how winter works. Germany will now recieve a separate event with a debuff after December. The soviets can take a decision to prepare for winter.
  • Decision for both sides to "crush the pocket" in the 23 July start date. This is the start of a series of decisions/events etc to make more of the map have actual significance.
  • Further alterations made to AI behaviour.
  • Fixed a few localisation errors
  • Fixed missing German generals in the 8th Sept start date.
  • Soviet AI backup event now spawns units correctly.
  • Pitomnik air base level increased.
  • Fixed triggered songs playing for both sides.
