An advanced shell type feautring a small taser embedded into the round. Upon hitting the target, it continuously releases electrical impulses, causing muscle spasms. Great precaution must be taken when using such munitions, as high levels of electrocution may cause heart attacks.
This ammo type is extremely complex, requiring significantly more research, materials and work than other shotgun shells.
Instead of sharp penetration, electrocution relies on the Heat Armor of the target, so only the armors with environmental protection will shield against it.

Illumination shell in shotgun format. Does no damage on its own, but provides light during nighttime, greatly increasing accuracy against targets. When using CAI5000 mod, flare shells also allow seeing farther through Fog of War at night.

An exotic shell type consisting of two balls connected by a sturdy thin wire. When ball-and-chain round hits an limb, a neck or a body of a snake, it does significantly more damage (from 125% to 200%). However, such marksmanship will require a skilled shooter, a high-quality shotgun and ample use of the Called Shots system. Peculiarly effective at separating fools from their money.

A shell capable of penetrating weak barriers and releasing a small toxic cloud on the other side of the wall. Penetration capabilities depend on the wall HP and the caliber – 23x75mmr might break through steel walls, while .410 Bore will only be effective against wooden doors and chipped walls.
Requires Biotech to function because toxic gas is locked behind it.

A gentle answer to home intruders. Serves as a cheaper multi-pellet Beanbag alternative. Hits the target with a cloud of salt, causing nasty, painful, but non-bleeding wounds. Good for capturing prisoners in improverished colonies, or when you just don't have enough Cloth. Made with stone chunks.
