During the Interwar period, the USSR sought to modernize and improve their Mosin Nagant stocks, developing a general use short rifle based on the dragoon carbine. This development resulted in the M91/30 Mosin, a shorter and slightly simplified version of the M91.
Over time, further improvements and changes were made, resulting in attachments such as the Dyakonov grenade launcher/light mortar, and even shorter versions such as the M38 carbine.
A further improvement of this carbine was carried out during WW2, resulting in the M44 carbine, which had the bayonet included as an integral part of the rifle, to avoid it's loss.
The sniper variant will come soon
