Welcome to Commanders in Conflict

You may have played Sonnenblume, the very first map of the Official SPEED5, Hearts of Iron IV, 1vs1 Gamemode. Well now get ready for Season One of the the Commanders in Conflict mod. Season one comes with three maps, 12 faction picks (6 per nation) and a whole host of re-balances and bug fixes!

The Gamemode pits Axis vs. Allies on a cut down map of Hearts of Iron IV. The map is set in North Africa, 1940. The name of the game is either, by the end of the hour, capitulate the other player (Totally defeating them) or hold a majority of the key victory points.

There are two phases of the gamemode, Setup & Battle. The Setup phase is the first year, where the players will begin to plan and develop their industry, as well as possibly pick their faction choice. After 365 days pass in game an in game event will automatically declare the war - starting the Battle phase. From that point on a player will begin to achieve one of the two victory types.

How to Win

Capitulation Victory

A Capitulation Victory is when one player completely knocks out the other by taking enough of their territory to capitulate them, or by one player surrendering before the time is up.

Point Victory

Point victories are achieved by holding all or a majority of the key Victory Points by the end of the 60 mins of play. The Key VPs are visible at all times in the decisions panel

The Victory Points also provide bonus resources to the players meaning that holding them also provides a tactical advantage.

Factions

Each nation contains 3 Faction pick focus trees, each providing a unique bonus to the player nation. For the uninitiated, think of these as Champion picks for LoL or Agent picks in Valorant. They each have unique pros and cons to selection and playstyle. The Factions available for Season One are as follows:

The Allied Forces

The Commonwealth 8th Army
The Commonwealth 8th Army combines well-supported Infantry, Espionage Tactics and a powerful fleet to hold the line and wait for the opportune moment to counter-attack

The Canadian 1st Army
The Canadian 1st Army combines Logisitical Support and Fast mobile troops to get supplies and men to the lines as fast as possbile

US 12th Army Group
A balance between medium armor support and overwhelming firepower, The US Army brings the might of America’s industry to bear to insure a well rounded and well equipped fighting force.

USMC
When the going gets tough, you call in the Marines. Specialized in amphibious assults, the USMC hit the enemy where they least expect it.

The Soviet 5th Guards Tank Army
The Soviet 5th Guards Tank Army wins battles through Blood and Iron. Bringing a mix of Armored and Mechanized forces, as well as additional manpower, they make sure every opportunity for a breakthrough can be exploited.

The Soviet 3rd Shock Army
The Soviet 3rd Shock Army brings elite infantry and numbers to the field, attempting to break the enemy lines through sheer force of will and overwhelming battlefield support.

The Axis Forces

Panzer Group West
A combination of Hard Hitting Panzers and Fast Moving motorized, The Panzer Group West rely on brute force and speed to overwhelm the enemy, before supplies run too thin.

4th Army Wehrmacht
A combination of Elite Infantry and Defensive Emplacements, 4th Army Wehrmacht are a tough nut to crack if you let them dig in

The Italian Army 1st Army
Combining Artillery and Naval Support, The Italian Army 1st Army provides a good mix of Air, Land and Sea power to hold the line and whittle down enemy forces.

The Italian Army of the Po
Fast, Light forces that adopt raiding and hit and run tactics across Air, Land and Sea. If you want to be somewhere quick, The Army of the Po are you r troop of choice.

The Imperial Japanese Navy
Providing Expert Naval Support, Special Forces and powerful Infantry, The Japanese Expeditionary Force relies on dominating the waterways and striking the enemy lines where they least expect it

The Imperial Japanese Army
Expert Infantry and a Warrior spirit go a long way. The Imperial Japanese Military are experts at utilizing every soldier available and an unrelenting moral to defeat all who stand in their way.

  • Changed the defines for armor and piercing so that the maximum matters less and the average matters more in an attempt to "fix" space marines as requested by the top8. This might be a temporary change for the tournament.
