The mod began as a necessity and turned out to be a passion project with dozens of people involved.
After watching Dune: Part II I got inspired to start my own run with some Dune-themed mods. Still sitting at the cinema, I was absolutely sure of the abundance of Dune-related mods for Rimworld. In my mind it was a no-brainer, a sci-fi setting with psyonic powers, despotic empire, factions fighting for influence over the planet and, of course, genetic tailoring.
It was beyond disappointing for me to find that these mods did not exist, just as my perfect Dune-inspired Rimworld run.
Since then, I have been slowly turning my frustration into action. I couldn’t get rid of a thought about creating a high-quality modpack fitting the high standard of this game’s modding community, with fancy graphics, decent balance and vanilla-friendly vibes.
This vision has brought together a team of friends and like-minded people who have managed to work together to create the first iteration of this project.
Even though this mod doesn't bring any changes to the game's mechanics, it adds a whole new set of armour and weapons to the game which are always a great addition to any Rimworld run, at the same time setting the stage for developing a larger series of mods in the future.
As it’s our first mod, we didn’t set unrealistic goals to overhaul the entire game and decided to take it one thing at a time but make them as perfect as we could, much like the Vanilla Expanded series.
