The Mountains Retexture mod opened my eyes to how much better RimWorld can look without its blocky visuals. But it also made the rest of the world, especially terrain and coastlines, look even more blocky by comparison.
Because of this, I started using NANAME Floors + a buildable terrain mod to manually smooth out entire maps, but this took ages per map, which is why I made this mod: to automate that process and enhance the natural terrain generation for a more organic-looking world.
Uses NANAME Floors' diagonal floors to generate a smoothened terrain.
On booting up the game, this mod will pre-load tons of "blended terrains" in all orientations & combinations as set in the settings; however, this only includes vanilla terrains by default.
You can manually add new "terrain blend pairs" for any terrains you wish would smooth together - or if you don't want to do all that - turn on the experimental automatic toggle, to make it automatically support any modded natural terrain at risk of ruining performance.
Terrain smoothing (by default) happens on map creation, but can also be performed on existing saves by pressing the "Smooth current map" button in the mod's settings.
To uninstall this mod from an existing save, press the "Un-smooth current map" button in the mod's settings, save the map, reload the map without the mod, then a single error spam will happen upon opening, and then it seems to be fine.
For these types of overhaul mods it's impossible to predict all edge cases, but it's been stable for me with over 500 active mods.
