Skrix - An Insect-like Race

This mod adds the Skrix, an Insect-like Humanoid race to the game.

Any balance related feedback is appreciated. particularly about the race abilities.

Skrix come in four variants: Worker, Soldier, Noble, and Royal, each with their own backstories and Quirks.

== General Race Information ==

In General, Skrix work faster than normal Pawns, but they require more food each day.

  • Workers are better at menial tasks such as digging and cleaning.
  • Soldiers are adept at combat.
  • Nobles are fast movers that are good socializers, artists, crafters, and researchers.
  • Royals combine the good of the other variants, but refuse to Haul or Clean.

Skrix generate harvestable resources over time:

  • Carapace, which can be used both as a building material and as a Leather in apparel crafting.
  • Bile, which is used in Skrix specific crafting.
  • Noble essence, which is used in Skrix specific crafting.
  • Unfertilized eggs, which can be crafted together with the other harvestable resources at a Drug Lab to create fertilized Eggs that will hatch Pawns of the desired variant.

Skrix do not get negative mood debuffs from eating Corpses, Raw food, Rotten food, Kibble, Humanoid meat, Insect meat, etc. and do not get food poisoning. They also do not care about butchering or harvesting organs from other Humanoids.

== Royalty Features ==

If you have the Royalty Expansion then Soldiers, Nobles, and Royals all get inherent abilities. These abilities have a limited number of charges that automatically regenerate over time:

  • Soldiers get an ability to spit a projectile of acidic bile. This projectile explodes and does Chemical Burn damage. In addition, it leaves behind clouds of acidic mist, which damage any Pawns who stay in the mist.
  • Nobles get a Jump ability similar to the Jump Pack, though of a reduced distance. Unlike the Jump Pack line of sight is not required and so Pawns can use this ability to jump over walls and mountains.
    Note that if the Pawn or the desired jump destination are under a roof, then the Pawn will not be able to Jump there. The Pawn will also not be able to jump to any location that they could not walk out from.
    So you won't be able to accidentally trap your pawns.
  • Royals get both the Soldier and Noble abilities.

== Biotech Features ==

Children are supported if you have Biotech.

  • Worker: Growth Moments at Age 1,2, and 3. Fully Grown Adults at 4.
  • Soldier: Growth Moments at Age 1, 3, and 5. Fully Grown Adults at 6.
  • Noble: Growth Moments at age 4, 8, and 12. Fully Grown Adults at 15.
  • Royal: Growth Moments at age 5, 10, and 15. Fully Grown Adults at 20.

== Additional Features ==

Bile can be used to craft Acidic Spears. These weapons have slightly higher armor penetration than regular spears and have a chance to deal extra chemical burn damage.
