Will you bring a Folia into your colony, and put up with their lousy work ethic in exchange for their life-creating tech? Will you rescue a folian underling from their servitude? Or maybe you'll find an outcast folia, happy to work for the good of the colony!
These plant people have a chance to appear in all regular game events, including pawn selection at the start. Alternatively you can choose the scenario "Folian Colonisers" To start with only this race.
The Folia are xenohumans, genetically modified thousands of years ago into an offshoot of humanity. They chose an elegant plantlike form, beautiful and yet resilient to life on harsh rimworlds where they like to set up new territories, enjoying the peaceful life while their minions work hard to support them.
The folia's ruthlessness is second only to their glamour, they are known throughout the galaxy for their cruel and unusual punishments, sharp tongues, and petty behaviour.
Their bumbling Potatoid workers, however, are much the opposite. Kind, gentle and relentlessly hard working, if a little lacking in smarts. A few lucky potatoids have managed to break free of their "homes" and spread throughout the galaxy, often working as labourers for hire. They make a wonderful and charming addition to any colony!
The Deathkap warriors, who are bred as guards, look almost as simple-minded and non-threatening as their potatoid cousins. This is a foolish assumption, as they are deadly in combat and most fear to even approach them. Unlike potatoids, most deathkap are fiercely loyal to the folia, and in return are treated much more favourably, much to the chagrin of the potatoids.
I try to keep my race mods light, but there is one race-exclusive thing included in this mod:
A unique technology, only buildable and usuable by folia (not potatoids or deathkap.) This is the Folia Incubator.
It requires hydroponics research to be made, and a folia with at least construction 4.
Once built, a folia can sow the incubator with either deathkap or potatoid roots. In ~15 days, once fully grown, a folia can harvest them and produce a Potatoid or Deathkap pawn to join the colony.
(potatoids and deathkaps can also be found without the incubator, just like any other pawn)
