In the 1930s the Turkish army decided to standardise most of it's rifles to fire the 8mm ammunition they alreay mass produced. They took some of the SMLE rifles they had captured in WW1 and rechambered them to 8mm, but also refurbished them to be operated like regular mausers (sights,slinging,mauser style magazine...). Most likely they never saw action in WW2, as Turkish soldiers never fought in a battle,but Turkey did join WW2 very late in the war, in 1945
