Developed between 1940 and 1942 to give the Swedish army an infantry fired AT weapon, the Carl Gustav M42 was a 20mm recoilless rifle, firing a very fast projectile and expelling a part of the gasses backwards to counter the recoil of the gun. It could penetrate 40mm of armor at 100 meters.
