The armored fighting vehicle "Puma" (German Schützenpanzer Puma — "puma") is a German infantry fighting vehicle (BMP). Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Rheinmetall-Landsysteme (RLS) are developing and producing an experimental batch of BMP.
The project is being implemented as part of a joint venture between both KMW and RLS concerns. Starting in 2014, it was planned to supply the German Ground Forces with a batch of 410 vehicles designed to replace the outdated Marder BMP. In 2012, the order was reduced to 350 units with an increase in the cost of one BMP to seven million euros.
