Magna Europa: Reloaded

Magna Europa: Reloaded is a Hearts of Iron IV modification aiming to transform the standard Earth map into an "Europe Only Map" which span from Iceland to the Urals, and from Finland to the Suez Canal. It features a highly detailed custom map in the Miller cylindrical projection.

Expect the mod to take some time to load, there is a bug where the game takes a lot of time to process rivers, it should be stuck for a bit in "Creating Flags"

This map includes:

  • 2981 states, allowing for modern, historical and proposed borders. Includes historical & estimated population data.
  • 424 country tags, modern and ancient, including unrecognised states.
  • Historical railways, supply hubs and ports, as well as basic infrastructure levels.
  • Victory points for all countries, categorised using population data.
  • Some VP and State dynamic renaming.
  • Flags and country names rework.
  • Revamped country colours

Playable Version & Gameplay changes

This is the playable version of Magna Europa: Reloaded, which means that it has Focus Trees, OOBs, and other content unlike the Utility Version.

It features some gameplay changes compared to vanilla:

  • To reduce unit stacking and to take advantage of the new full map, all unit widths have been doubled.
  • Train requirements should be higher than vanilla, especially over great distance. Invading the Soviet Union should require proper preparations if you do not want your troops to starve.
  • The USA now start with three times the amount of civilian factories, but the isolation penalty is much harsher as well, leaving them with only 5% free factories on the game start.
  • We gave the Soviet AI a lot of buffs tied to its surrender level to allow it to rebuild its army even when it is losing. Player Soviet Union is unchanged though.
  • The Soviet AI gets a lot of free factories when it evacuates its industry to the Urals. Failure to constantly advance will allow it to replenish its forces.
  • Resistance effects on supply have been increased. Before an invasion, prepare enough guns to properly suppress resistance.
  • Mountain ranges are now fantastic fortresses full of chokepoints. A few entrenched divisions are often enough to stop any invasion force.
  • The increased map size makes it harder to fully cover the coastline in divisions, making naval invasions easier with proper planning beforehand.
  • The USA joins the Allies automatically on December 1941 if democratic UK is at war and France has capitulated.
  • Germany can no longer get free Soviet oil without the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.
  • The British and Dutch colonial resources are behind Suez. Cut Suez, and you will strangle the Allies rubber supply.
  • Because Italy industry was too high, rather than nerfing it Italy now starts on civilian economy to slow it down a little, you will need to mobilise it as soon as possible
  • You cannot afford to stop and let the Soviet take initiative when conducting Operation Barbarossa. Make sure you have the logistics, the occupation equipment and the fuel needed before starting the war.

AI changes:

  • We taught the German AI to make tank divisions, it should make approximately between 30 and 40 of them. We cannot however teach it to use them effectively
  • Should the Soviet Union gets above 5% surrender limit, the USA AI will assist it with all the Lend-Lease it can
  • We told both the British and the Italian AI to fight in Egypt and Libya. Only the Italian one seems to be able to do it effectively.
  • We told the AI to not release every single small releasable tags we added, to avoid some of the most disgusting bordergores ever seen.
  • The absense of Ethiopia in the map helps a lot the Italian AI, which no longer waste a lot of troops in the useless East Africa, and now only focus on the Balkans, North Africa and the Russian front.
  • Fixed Yugoslav Plane Competition possibly crashing the game
