Better Mechanics : Times of Peace

Ever felt like after a war accompanied with its years and months of strife, there was no actual return to a semblance of normal life ? Have you ever wished to continue your game past the great conflict era, but your cpu gives up on you ? Have you ever wished to continue your rp game further but find it unrealistic that the AI still builds up for a world war like there no tommorow ? Or you just wish to enjoy a great game that is balanced for you and the AI ? Then this mod is for you.

Through a combination of old mod files, some use of HOI4 Codding and a sense of hope, I created a hopefully comprehensive peace and demobilization mod that will be axed round 5 concepts detailled below.

Features
  • Peaceful Economic Growth : Every so often (the exact amount of time depending on ideology and economy law) an event will fire giving you some extra goods (new civ factories, infrastructure, building slots, etc.) giving you a little extra incentive to remain civilian or early mobilization. This should buff democracies a little and make the other demobilization mechanics more interesting. The mod adds three new indicators to represent the impact of total mobilization and war economies on the country. These will be increased or decreased by conscription, trade and economic laws, and will receive a buff if maintained at a high level or a debuff if extremely low.
    The timing of the switch is important, as it creates disadvantages for the prolonged war economy, while providing benefits for the civilian economy.

    Moreover, The AI and player uses this and are also affected by it so be careful about dragging your nation to war for too long. It also make and even stronger incentive to demobilize and use civilian economy.

    Convoy Raiding and Strategic bombings will also affect more the Domestic Affairs of your country instead of some measly war support debuffs, so watch out.


  • Dynamic Unit Limiter : Every country only has the ability to support a certain number of individual military divisions before their economy and infrastructure struggle to maintain them.
    The maximum number of supported units is based on the country's total population and owned states,and is then multiplied by the country's overall level of industrialisation. This will also depend on your economic mobilization (I made it more compatible by removing the economic ideas and making them instead a trigger). This unit limit is also accompanied with a dynaic unit remover for the AI depending on its siittuation, especially war support levels

  • Highered World Tension Decay : Ever wondred why world tension stay this high even after so many years ? Well this mod also improve and raises world tension and thus prompt other demobilization mechanics in a more realistic manner (the war support buff from world tension will be smaller)

  • Post-War Coalition Mechanic : Once a great war (3 or more majors join the war) finishes, the countries will try to prevent other strong nations (>9 mils) from declaring war on their neighbors by forming coalitions (only once war breaks out). The amount of nations willing to join said coalition depends on how long they've been at peace for.

  • War/Economic Exaustion Mechanic : A war exhaustion mechnic inspired by the one in the Endsieg : Ultimate Victory mod. Since the BBA update, casuallties are counted in to determine your war support, with the more manpower you are losing the more your war support will tank along your draining manpower, which great and realistic. However, the war weariness of your economic policies and focus toward war is not represented, with nation mobilising entirely but no consequences to such degrees of mobilisation. This mod seeks to fix that by intoducing war exhaustion connected to your economic policy.

 

How war exhaustion works :


Exhaustion goes from 0 to 4500 and depending on your economy law, you will gain or lose exhaustion as follows:

- Civilian Economy : -3 war exhaustion per day at peace and 0 war exhaustion per day at war
- Early Mobilisation : -1.5 war exhaustion per day at peace and 1 war exhaustion per day at war
- Partial Mobilisation : 0.5 war exhaustion per day at peace and 1.5 war exhaustion per day at war
- War Economy : 1 war exhaustion per day at peace and 2 war exhaustion per day at war
- Total Mobilisation : 2 war exhaustion per day at peace and 2.5 war exhaustion per day at war


Every 750 days worth of exhaustion, you will get increasingly worsening effects going from Low to Extreme War Exhaustion. You better start demobilisng a bit or face consequences


Since the demobilization mechanics of the game are already understood by the AI, the loss of war support beneath levels like 30% will prompt it during peace time to demobilize, because some mobilization and economic laws are tied to war support levels. You will now find a use to the war support decisions you have and heavily keep an eye on war support !

You can also reduce War Exhaustion via decisions but be warned : those are stopgap decisions and the cost is high !

Results

After a big war or a long period of military mobilisation, war support plummets as tension becomes lower and lower, prompting you and the AI to demobilize some troops and reduce economy laws, however this wont be painful since with lower economic mobilisation, your economy grows thanks to a more natural and organic process.

Compatibility

Compatible With anything tat doesnt add or change ideologies (Might make a Kaiserreich Version soon, despite them having their own system of mobilization).
Since the modification on economic laws are removed and replaced by extra triggers , mods tha cahnge economic mobilization laws like EAW are compatible !


Future Changes

Depending on suggestions and feedback, I want to :

  • Make an addition some flavor event for export laws (which might give convoys, transport planes or other benefits related to trade, I hav no ideas for now). I feel trade is already somewhat balanced but can be kinda annoying at times if no one is buying your products. And a nation doesnt solely trade for military ressources (I want to put more abstract and good effects about having an export focused or free trade focused nation, suggest me things please)

  • Create a war stopping coalition mechanic : AFter a very big war, nations will prevent other strong nations form declaring wars Done, enjoy the mod

  • Create a Dynamic Conscription/Mobilisation Mechanic which will penalize you in stability; war support and other debuffs for having higher conscription laws enacted for a long period of time. I am open to suggestions about the modifier that will happen.
