The End of a New Beginning - Introduction

The turbulent waves of time splash against the crumbling empires of old as the kingdoms of a dawning golden era arise. The Conference of Vienna of 1815 brought about the Pax Britannica, establishing the United Kingdom as a global overseer, as it is said on the British Isles and its ever-expanding empire; a power incomparable and lacking hindrance, one without peer nor challenge, as nobody dares face Her Majesty's Royal Navy. While the British Empire reigns as the world's premier power, behind the shades of the autonomous, yet fragmented German and Italian states, the cries of liberty and unification have echoed since the Revolutions of 1848. In the lands of the New World, the demise of the Spanish and Portuguese Empires gave rise to the many new states of South America, and their consolidation still causes conflicts. To the north, the United States, the so-called Land of the Free, is troubled with the issue of slavery and the ramifications of Manifest Destiny at the expense of the native populations in the west. In the Far East, the Shogun's power is questioned by the Bakufu Council, and the guns of Perry and the West force the nation to sign unequal treaties, whilst another war over opium and trade looms over China, and the Great Powers are questioning the authority of the Qing and their vassals. Recent conflicts have reshaped and plotted out the lines of influence; be damned those who have become ensnared in the expanding spheres of damnation. But there are many ancient nations lurking across the ever-industrializing world, ready to be explored and conquered, or to be led to victory...

As so many other mods offer the prospect of map painting, our forte is quite straightforward: rather than paint the map of the world to your own devices, you write the book of your nation. You will race the Great Powers for prestige and influence, challenge the political might of their realms, and set your place on the world stage. From a choice of the largest variety of historically accurate and detailed nations, you will guide yours through a tumultuous and vigorous era. Your political, economic, and diplomatic decisions will allow you to change the fate of millions, as you mold your nation into a Victorian powerhouse.
Through political strife, technological advancement, international competition, and industrial races, we hope to turn Hearts of Iron IV into a book for you to write your own history in, whether it is of your nation's growing prosperity or the decline of old. What is to come begins with the collapsing remnants of Indian sovereignty during the notorious Sepoy Rebellion and the struggle of nations to overcome their division and oppression to rise to power and glory. The Scramble for Africa will determine the winners and losers of the colonial race, and a war to end all wars awaits those who soar too high. But will this be the end, or is it just the beginning? Or is it, perhaps, the End of a New Beginning? Destiny lies in your hands.

The Future of EoaNB

The development team has recently decided to cut the timeline of the mod to 1930, in order to reach the mod's full potential and to make our content as optimized, dynamic and fun to play as possible. You will certainly hear more about this in the near future.

If you already followed the development of EoaNB, you probably noticed that we took a long time before updating our mod with new content on Steam. However, this doesn't mean that the mod will die out, on the contrary. We have already planned for our future updates:

Extended Timeline for all major nations (up to 1885)
Economic system
War mechanics
Culture and Religion mechanics
Diplomacy and Influence
And much more...

Our next update seeks to expand on many systems and introduce many more, as well as optimize content to meet the new goal of the mod. Update v0.3 "Ars Bellica" aka the The Art of Warfare does not yet have a concrete release date, but we will update the page as soon as there are news on that front.

Expect to hear from us more often, on various forums. However, we still suggest that you join our Discord server to be updated more often, and to interact with the dev team, or, if you are interested in that, to even help out with the development and bring your own ideas forward.

Compatibility

As EoaNB is a total conversion mod, expect most game changing mods to not be compatible with ours. We cannot promise compatibility with graphical mods either, and to be fair we even advise that you don't use anything other than the mod to have the best experience possible.
